Vaccination

The most effective protection

Hepatitis B vaccine is safe, effective, and prevents over 95% of infections. SomHEP partners with the Ministry of Health to ensure every Somali child and at-risk adult has access to vaccination.

Who Should Be Vaccinated

Protection for every life stage

Newborns

A birth dose of hepatitis B vaccine within 24 hours protects infants from mother-to-child transmission.

Children & Adolescents

Catch-up vaccination ensures lifelong immunity for those who missed the infant series.

Healthcare Workers

Frontline staff face higher exposure risk and require full HBV vaccination plus periodic checks.

High-Risk Adults

Family members of HBV-positive patients, dialysis patients, and travelers should be vaccinated.
