Somali Hepatitis Trust, Samakaal Hospital, and Ministry of Health Conduct 1,000 Subsidized Screenings and free 1000 people Hepatitis B Vaccinations on World Hepatitis Day 2025
Mogadishu, Somalia – July 28, 2025 – The Somali Hepatitis Trust (SHT), in partnership with Samakaal Hospital and the Ministry of Health, successfully carried out a large-scale awareness and prevention campaign to mark World Hepatitis Day 2025.
Key achievements of the campaign included:
- Around 1,000 people received Subsidized Hepatitis B and C screening.
- Hundreds were protected through free Hepatitis B vaccination.
- Free specialist consultations and liver ultrasound services were offered to patients testing positive.
“This initiative represents a milestone in improving hepatitis care access in Somalia,” said Dr. Mohamed Kadle, a member of the Somali Hepatitis Trust. “Subsidized testing combined with free vaccination ensures no one is left behind in our fight against hepatitis.”
The campaign formed part of Somali Hepatitis Awareness Week and reinforced Somalia’s National Hepatitis Control and Elimination Strategy (2025–2030).
