Panel Discussion on Somalia’s First Hepatitis Strategy Highlights Road to ImplementationMogadishu, July 28, 2025 As part of World Hepatitis Day celebrations and the official launch of the Somali National Hepatitis Strategy 2025–2030, the Somali Hepatitis Trust and National Hepatitis Control Program of Federal Ministry of Health hosted a high-level panel discussion titled “Building the Blueprint: Somalia’s First Hepatitis Strategy and the Road to Implementation.”
The panel brought together experts and policymakers, including:
- Dr. Mohamed Abdulkadir Hassan-Kadle (Moderator, Gastro & Liver Specialist, Vice Chair of the National Hepatitis Committee, Founder of SomHepatitis),
- Dr. Sadia Abdisamad (National HIV Program Manager),
- Dr. Aweiys Hersi Hashi (Head of Communicable Disease Prevention & National Hepatitis Program Manager),
- Prof. Dr. Khalif Bile (National Steering Committee on Hepatitis),
- Dr. Abdulrazaq Yusuf (DrJalaludiin) (Healthcare Economist & Director of Demartino Hospital).
Discussions focused on hepatitis elimination goals, financing models, integration into primary healthcare, and the urgent rollout of the hepatitis B birth-dose vaccine.
