Somali Hepatitis Trust Brings subsidized Screening and free Vaccination to the Community on World Hepatitis Day 2025

Mogadishu, Somalia – To mark World Hepatitis Day 2025, the Somali Hepatitis Trust (SHT), in collaboration with Samakaal Hospital and the Ministry of Health, organized a major community campaign providing around 1,000 people with subsidized Hepatitis B and C screening and offering 1000 people Free Hepatitis B vaccination to make protection more affordable.

Held under the theme “Let’s Break the Chain of Transmission,” the campaign also included free specialist consultations and liver ultrasound services for patients who tested positive.

Dr. Mohamed Abdulkadir Kadle, Founder of the Somali Hepatitis Trust, explained:

“The turnout shows how urgent the need is. By screening nearly a thousand people and free cost of vaccination, we are taking concrete steps to protect communities and prevent new infections.”

This initiative not only improved access to preventive care but also contributed to Somalia’s newly launched National Hepatitis Strategic Plan 2025–2030, which aligns with the global goal of eliminating hepatitis by 2030.
