Somali Hepatitis Trust and Ministry of Health Deliver CME Program for University Students on World Hepatitis Day 2024
Mogadishu – As part of World Hepatitis Day 2024 commemorations, the Somali Hepatitis Trust (SHT) in partnership with the National Hepatitis Control Program, Federal Ministry of Health and Human Services and Somali Medical Association held a Continuing Medical Education (CME) session targeting Somali university students.
The program provided an in-depth overview of viral hepatitis epidemiology, modes of transmission, prevention strategies, and clinical management. Students also engaged in discussions on the importance of early detection, vaccination, and patient support systems.
The event, attended by dozens of young medical students, emphasized that “Hepatitis Can’t Wait”, echoing the global theme. It highlighted the role of youth and medical trainees in shaping Somalia’s response to hepatitis elimination.
